Inconsistent Calibre Folder Import

When importing my Calibre library using the folder method I am finding that the description often (but not always) does not get imported in Bookshelves. Also, tags are sometimes missed or added (see example) and Subject(whatever that it is) is added in Bookshelves. I have consistency checked and repaired the Calibre DB (latest version) and it still occurs. Checking the tag counts in Calibre and Bookshelves, I have found inconsistencies.

Just FYI, I got around this by skipping folder input and just using OPDS from Calibre in small pieces (tag by tag). With this method I got counts and descriptions between Calibre and BS to sync.

Thank you for the detailed report and the screenshots. They made two causes easy to find:

  1. Description: folder import does not read the description stored in Calibre yet. BookShelves only finds a description when it is also inside the book file, which is why it works for some books and not others.
  2. Tags: BookShelves combines Calibre's tags with the subjects stored inside the EPUB file. "Subject" is the EPUB term for a book's tags or categories. Calibre does not update the file when you change tags in Calibre, so an old subject like "Fantasy" comes back. Calibre's tags should win here.

Both are filed as bugs, and we will update this post when the fix ships. If you have an example of a Calibre tag that is missing in BookShelves, please post the book's title here. That case is not explained yet.
