Maybe that’s intended behavior, maybe not. I’d prefer that not happen though, personally. Regardless it’s certainly a bug that the app apparently still thinks that I’m in the chapter that I scrolled FROM.
Case in point:
I’m in the middle of Chapter 12.
I accidentally tap the status bar at the top that says the current chapter.
It auto-scrolls to the beginning of the book.
I go to the TOC and tap Chapter 12, and nothing happens.
I tap Chapter 5, and it works. I was taken to Chapter 5.
Now, if I got to the TOC and tap Chapter 12 it works.
So apparently the auto-scroll to the beginning of the book did not update the recorded position and the app still thought I was in Chapter 12 even though I was on page 1 of the book.
This is not just an esoteric concern. If I accidentally tapped the top and get taken to the beginning of the book, then I cannot just go to the TOC and tap the previous chapter to return to my position. I have to tap on an adjacent chapter and then manually scroll to where I was.
I think you should just remove the auto-scrolling behavior… issue solved.

Thank you for the detailed report! You're right, tapping the status bar shouldn't scroll the reader to the top. We've disabled this behavior in the next update so it won't happen anymore. Thanks for taking the time to describe the exact steps to reproduce.
Fixed in version 1.0.28. The status bar scroll-to-top behavior has been disabled in scroll reader mode, so tapping the status bar no longer jumps to the beginning of the book.
